Price of dry cocoon plummets in October

According to silk monitoring system of the Ministry of Commerce, in October, the average price of dry cocoon in domestic market stood at 46.41 yuan per kilogram, down 11.0 percent from September and 4.5 percent from the same period last year.

After entering the second half of this year, there is a month-on-month decline in the price of dry cocoon. In the month of October, the prices fell 11 percentage points higher than that of previous month.

During this period, domestic raw silk yarn price fell sharply; of which, the average price of 3A (product level) was quoted at 176,360 yuan per ton, down 6.6 percent from September, and 2.4 percent from the same period year earlier.

5A raw silk yarn price was quoted at 190,760 yuan per ton, 4.7 percent lower from September and 3.8 percent from the similar period previous year.
