At the next IMB – World of Textile Processing in Cologne (21st to 24th April 2009), Koelnmesse and VDMA German Garment and Leather Technology Association will be presenting, for the second time, the IMB Innovation Awards for pioneering product developments and research projects.

In 2009 there will be a new category, the "Students & Young Professionals Award", which will be presented to a student or young professional with a maximum of three years of professional experience in the sector.

The award's patron is Herbert von Bose, EU Director of the “Directorate Industrial technologies” within the “Directorate-General for Research” of the European Commission.

Exhibitors at IMB, university representatives and entrants in the category Junior Professional Award can send in their application documents until 5th December 2008. First prize in the Research category is endowed with €7,000, second prize with €2,000, and third prize with €1,000. The three best entries the category Students & Young Professionals will receive awards of €3,000, €2,000 and €1,000 respectively.

The winning exhibitor at IMB in the category for market-ready innovations having to do with the processing of flexible materials will receive the IMB Innovation Award for 2009. The award winners will be selected by a five-person jury consisting of representatives of the international trade press and of globally operating companies in the sector.

The best product developments and research findings will be on show in the Innovation Area of IMB 2009 on the Boulevard at Koelnmesse.
