Chensiah Sekhar, has the distinction of being featured in the Guinness Book of Records, for weaving a fabric cloth from 25 diffrent natural fibres, now has found a benefactor in the form of The Craft Council of India. To an appeal made by Sekhar, the council has come forward to help him.

Sekhar has to his credit of using nearly 25 different natural material fibres to weave a single woven fabric. Sekhar is the President of the Anakaputhur Jute Weavers' Association and is also recognized as the founder of the Madras Handkerchief, which used to be exported in large numbers.

Shekhar had pleaded for help to save his unit, which was being evicted and in the process save the jobs of the workers in his unit and the council has promised all help in this regard.

He has blended twenty five natural fibres like bamboo, pineapple, banana jute, staple fibre, hessian, linen, hemp, mesta, water weed, pineapple, silk, gold and other fibres and wove them in to a single piece of cloth out of which he crafted saris and for which he has been acknowledged in the Guinness Book of Records.

Sekhar and his group are contributing in their own way to encouraging use of eco-friendly fibres. There are reports of other government agencies and banks which have come forward to help his band of Self Help Group members.
