Textile sector to see 30% reduction in orders - BAATPE

On December 3, 6th Official International Conference titled 'Development and prospects of Bulgarian Tailoring industry' held in hotel Sheraton, located in Sofia, that united more than 90 representatives of the Bulgarian textile firms.
The event was organized by Bulgarian Association of producers and importers of clothing and textile (BAATPE), together with The German office for sustainable international cooperation (GTZ) in Bulgaria, and WEIS Consulting, Germany.
The main aspect was on the influence of the international economic situation to textile industry and the results of it.
During the event, Ms Valeria Zhekova, Chairman of the BAATPE forecasted that there will be 30 percent decrease in orders and the same amount of people will be laid off in the next 4-6 months.
Ms Valeria Zhekova informs Fibre2fashion.com that many Bulgarian firms are being restructured and are working seriously on anti-crisis programmes.
Ms Zhekova points out, among the urgent measures, which have to be accepted, firms require Government aid, in order to improve their liquidity and there is a dire need to create conditions for flexible work hours.
Moreover, the state must make arrangements for social payments and aid workers.
