4th Handloom Expo opens in Nagaland

The fourth Handloom Expo was thrown open to the public at the Urban Haat in Dimapur, Nagaland on December 4, 2009. The expo is sponsored by the Development Commissioner for Handlooms and organised by the Nagaland Handloom and Handicrafts Development Corporation Limited (NHHDC).

The expo was inaugurated by the Parliamentary Secretary for Industries and Commerce, Mr Yepthomi who after going through the exhibition said that local entrepreneurs are slowly unveiling their talents through their products. However, he added by saying that they would need to work on a larger scale to make these products available outside the state.

He promised to make a Jacquard machine available in each of the districts for churning out more products with different designs. He also announced opening of another Haat in Kohima, the capital of Nagaland, but stressed that the present Haat should be utilized for multi-purpose activities.
