NYIGF @ Home to refine better home textiles resources at Javits

Two home fashion-focused seminars are scheduled:
“Color Pulse 2010, sponsored by IFDA (International Furnishings & Design Association); and “Home Trends: What's Now? What's Next?” presented by HomeWorld Business.

The issue of sustainability and its impact on retailers will be addressed in several programs, including “It's Easy Being, Building, Buying & Selling Green,” presented by Metropolis Magazine; “The Color of Money… Adopting Green Business Practices for Higher Profits,” moderated by Interior Design; and “Get Real… Green Verification and Certification,” moderated by Green Retailer and Gift Shop magazines.

Special Events
A series of onsite events and after-hours activities are planned for exhibitors and buyers, enabling them to enjoy some of New York City's best entertainment and attractions during market.

On Saturday, January 24, market participants are invited to visit the newly-opened Museum of Art & Design (MAD) in its new home at 2 Columbus Circle, compliments of NYIGF, 7 West New York, 41 Madison and 230 Fifth Avenue. In addition, MAD admission is free for all buyers and suppliers during Home Textiles Market Week.

On Sunday, January 25, the Gift For Life Stakes Are High Casino will benefit DIFFA: Design Industries Foundation Fighting AIDS, one of the largest sources of funding for HIV/AIDS service and education programs in the United States.

On Monday, January 26, 7 West will host a “Mardi Gras” event from 5:00–8:00 p.m., to include New Orleans jazz in the lobby, cocktails and on each level of the building, and a contest offering a chance to win an authentic Mardi Gras vacation for two.

On Tuesday, January 27, the highly-anticipated NYIGF “A Night on Broadway” will feature specially-priced tickets to musical BILLY ELLIOT at the Imperial Theater. Tickets, which cost $114.50, are available to market participants at $85 each, with the difference being absorbed by GLM.

Best New Product Awards
On Tuesday, January 27, the winners and finalists of the New York Home Textiles Market Week “Best New Products” Awards will be recognized. Select exhibitors will be recognized for excellence in five categories – Bath, Bed, Dining, Home Accessories and Home Apparel – along with one overall “Best of Market distinction. Winners and finalists are selected by a panel of trade and consumer editors based on innovative design, product solution, aesthetic appeal, creativity and new material or technology.

Display
The winter market will see the return of SustainAbility: design for a better world™ at NYIGF. The special display, showcasing some 130 environmentally-conscious and socially-responsible products crafted from sustainable, recycled or renewable resources, will be located at the Javits Center throughout the NYHTMW. The winter 2009 display will feature an increased number of 100% organic fabrics and soft goods, according to exhibit curator by Ilene Shaw of Shaw + Co! Productions.
