According to statistics released by the Ministry of Industry and Trade, in the month of October 2008, the export value of textile and garment products reached US $753 million, demonstrates an annual growth of 12.6 percent.
Total export value in the period from January to October touched $7.59 billion, showcases a surge of 19.59 percent on-year.
During these 10 months, Vietnam earned $50.08 million worth of foreign exchange from exporting to Hungary where the export value of textile and garment topped the list with $16.82 million, registering a rise of 33.59 percent of the total export value.
In this period, Vietnam exported textile and garment products to Belgium, Brazil and Portugal and fetched $88.97 million, $11.12 million, and $541.47 million respectively.
US remained, during this period, the largest destination for Vietnamese textile and garment product with $4.3 billion export value, increasing 17.35 percent over same period 2007. EU and Japan came next with value of $1.3 billion and $676.4 million respectively, showcasing an increase of 16 and 15 percent.
