Trade volume of polyester filament mounts up

Dec '08
On Monday, December 15, PTA, MEG prices increased slightly; supply of semi-dull and bright polyester slices along with CDP slice looked tight; PET bottle chip price moved sideways.

Market of acrylic staple fibre 1.5D × 38mm, acrylic top 3D × 102mm adjusted; CPL, nylon 6 slices were flat amid consolidation.

Trade volume of polyester filament soar slightly compared with the weekend; market trend still appeared to be more scattered; texturizing industry in down stream market acquired new positions. Prices from most factories remained stable; only ex-factory price of DTY75D/36F, 72F from one of the manufacturer in Shengze increased by 100 yuan per ton. However, actual transactions were still based on bilateral discussion.

Although inventories of chemical fibre spinning plants were not large, PET price offers picked up. However, situation in down stream market was not rosy. Downstream textile companies hold wait-and-see attitude towards the future of polyester filament market. So outlook of polyester filament market is expected to be stable in short term.

All-cotton yarn market as a whole continued steady consolidation; demand of J21s, 32s was fair. Among mixed products, polyester-cotton yarn looked stable; part of viscose yarn products fell. Sales of rayon yarn 10s were moderate, but 20s, 30s, 50s slightly fell.

Polyester staple fibre prices slightly went up; demand of polyester yarn 45s, 50s was flat with the previous few days. Offers of viscose staple fibre continued to fall, market trade was still small.

Man-made fibre yarn market is expected to follow a downward trend.
