Kalyan cotton prices at the National Multi Commodity Exchange of India (NMCE) for the May contract have shown upward trend during the week starting from December 15 to 20.
The opening price on Monday was quoted at Rs479.00 per lot (1 lot = 20 kg) which was higher than previous day's closing of Rs477.40. By the day end, it closed at Rs479.90 per lot. However, during trading session, the price reached a level of Rs480.10 per lot.
On December 19, the opening prices touched a highest opening of the week at Rs481.90 per lot.
On Saturday, Kalyan cotton May series closed at Rs.482.50 up by Rs5.10 from Rs477.40 previous week. The series saw an intra-day high of Rs483.90 and low of Rs476.50 during the week.
Turnover this week was around Rs942.6 million which was higher than Rs522.3 million of previous week.
