Polyester filament market appears steady

On Monday, December 22, prices of PTA, MEG continued to move higher; semi-dull and bright polyester chips lifted further and prices of CDP slice also rose. PET bottle chip price went up amid consolidation.

Acrylic staple fibre 1.5D × 38mm, acrylic top 3D × 102mm prices underwent adjustment; CPL, nylon 6 chip prices trimmed lowered.

Polyester filament market appeared moderate although large volumes were not traded. Two major direct spinning manufactures raised their ex-factory prices of FDY, POY during the weekend. Monday another large spinning factory promoted its prices for semi-dull fine denier and bright FDY by 100 yuan per ton. DTY price temporarily remained stable.

POY price from Tongxiang and Taicang were steady. Market price of polyester chip surged with the boost of polyester filament cost. Polyester filament market price is expected to push slightly higher in the short term.

Yarn market price basically maintained stability, although trading volume declined. From transaction varieties, all-cotton yarn 32s still had demand, prices of polyester-cotton yarn and viscose yarn performed stable; rayon yarn looked weak, market price was poor, but current trade volume of 10s still slightly expanded, as it is mainly used in production of stretching faille fabrics on Air-jet looms.

For polyester yarn market, trade volume of 45s was moderate, but other items had little demand.

Price of polyester staple fiber slightly climbed, but price of viscose staple fibre declined.
