Silk laboratory to research & develop modern techniques

The "Silk National Engineering Laboratory" approved by the National Development and Reform Commission officially set up in Suzhou University recently, is an exclusive engineering laboratory meant for the domestic textile and silk industry.

The modern silk National Engineering Laboratory is based on strong silk engineering and technology research of the University of Suzhou, with cooperation of Wujiang Silk Co., Ltd., Zhejiang Silk Science and Technology Co., Ltd., Southwest University, Jiangsu SOHO International Group, and other enterprises and research institutions.

According to the planned objectives, the Modern Silk National Engineering Laboratory will spend 3-5 years mainly on three research trends, such as digital processing technology of silk, eco-functional dyeing and finishing technology of silk products, as well as processing technology of silk products.

It will also conduct research on modern digital silk textile technology, eco- processing technology of silk, technology development of new silk fibre materials. It will solve existing bottlenecks in modern development of traditional silk industry by using modern science and technology.
