According to reports provided by International Cotton Advisory Committee (ICAC), due to slipping demand for organic cotton in the international market, farmers are not getting the promised prices.
Production of organic cotton is a very complex process that requires extensive research and training for successful implementation. Experts opine that it also requires higher prices to offset increased labour requirements and lower yields.
Now, current price crisis in cotton has emerged as a major concern for all governments worldwide, as countries are finding it difficult to market their produce.
Market researchers say that policy makers of the respective countries should ensure that organic cotton growers get proper prices for their harvest.
