According to Vietnamese office for trade affairs in the Czech Republic, in 2008, garment and footwear fetched the highest revenue from the region, with total value reaching up to US $64 million, up 50 percent year-on-year.

Observing such lavish export figures, it is estimated that in 2009, total export value of Vietnam to Czech Republic will reach $330 million, representing a growth of 27 percent over 2008.

Of the total predicted figures, export value of garment and footwear industry to this particular market is expected to reach $80 million, up 26 percent over 2008 and accounting for 24.24 percent of the total export value.

In order to boost export to this potential market, few effective measures should be taken, notes Vietnamese office for trade affairs in the Czech Republic.

Besides normal export promotion measures like organizing trade fairs, conducting market surveys and exchanging business delegations, the industry associations should open showrooms in Czech Republic to introduce products so that Vietnamese businesses get an easy access to this market.

Currently, Vietnam mainly exports textile and garment products, footwear, and wooden products among others to this market.
