Duperré & Finnish students to present their collections at Texworld

Texworld will opens its doors (from Monday, 9th to Thursday, 12th February) at the Paris le Bourget exhibition centre. 650 exhibitors from all over the world and from the Asian continent in particular, will be showing their collections of fabrics and clothing to around 16 000 trade visitors, of whom 87% comes from overseas.

It is an event in more ways than one:
The range offered by the Exhibition is especially well adapted to the market's requirements: while constantly developing the quality and creativeness of their products, exhibitors are maintaining the most competitive prices on the market, a particularly strong point at a time of global economic crisis: consumers are indeed looking for the most moderate prices, without forgetting quality nonetheless. The focus is on the spring summer 2010 season where natural fibres are much appreciated and sought after, such as cotton and linen, but also ramie, hemp, coconut fibres, bamboo, silk and wool, as well as artificial fibres based on cellulose.

Furthermore, exhibitors are more and more aware of the development of products (fibres, materials and, consequently, clothing) that use organic materials or production techniques; each season the number of them who offer organic cottons, denims and hemp or recycled polyester and silk and who are reporting organic certification and labels is on the increase. It is a considerable asset, as consumers increasingly appreciate this type of production, which advocates sustainable development in order to protect our planet.

By offering them floor space at the show, Texworld is pursuing its policy of opening its doors to young designers and patternmakers who represent the future of the textile and clothing profession. Two schools (Duperré, the Parisian school of Applied Arts and Kymenlaakson, a Finnish university of applied sciences)have each selected four young graduates who will present their own collections. Visitors to the show will also be able to go right into a cutting workshop recreated by the Académie Internationale de Coupe de Paris and watch the future graduates working there.

Coming to Texworld means feeling the pulse of the world textile industry, meeting and exchanging information with manufacturers and designers who have travelled a great distance for the occasion, but it also means gaining an awareness for the future of this profession and new talent entering it.
