Asian Benzene market moved further higher on Wednesday, due to buyers who surfaced searching for March and April shipments. FOB Korea closed at US $391.50-392.50 per ton; Southeast Asian market closed at $371.25-372.25 per ton, up $5 per ton, while Europe and the United States saw varying degrees of market rise.
In Asian markets, buying interest for March benzene was at $387 per ton, for April benzene it was $397 per ton, and reached as high as $400 per ton in the afternoon, while seller's offers for March and April shipment were at $405/ per ton and $410/ per ton, respectively.
In other news, the 2nd integrated new aromatics unit of Thailand PTTAR located at Map Ta Phut began commercial operations and now the aromatics production capacity of the company will increase to 2,259,000 tons / year. The pure benzene production capacity of the new unit is 363,000 tons / year and para-xylene production capacity is 610,000 tons / year.
