Mahindra World City, the Special Economic Zone (SEZ) for Light Engineering and Handicraft sector near Jaipur, was inaugurated by the Chief Minister of Rajasthan, Mr Gehlot, in the presence of Mr Anand Mahindra, VC & MD of the Mahindra Group and other state level ministers and dignitaries.
Spread across approximately 250 acres each, the Light Engineering and Handicraft section is part of a massive 3,000 acre multi-product SEZ, which will host sectors like IT, Auto Ancillary, Banking and Logistics at an estimated investment of Rs 100 billion and when fully ready, will provide employment to 100,000 people.
Rajasthan is well-known for it handicrafts, which due to the twin factors of large number of foreign tourists as well as sizeable exports, is able to command a commendable volume of handcrafts exports from the country and this SEZ with state of the art facilities is projected to give a boost to the handicrafts industry in the state.
