The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) has warned of an indefinite strike, if the national government refuses to hike wages and salaries of the workers. The NLC leadership has also expressed dismay in the delay in releasing the over due textile revival fund.

The NLC led by its Chairman, Daniel Bissala, alleged that the government was just not interested in reviving the defunct textile industry in the country and was lingering since a long time in disbursal of funds under the N70 billion textile revival package.

He called upon the Kaduna provincial government to pressurize the government at the centre to release the funds in the interest of the thousands of workers of closed units in the province and which would help them claim their means of livelihood.

He also alleged that textile mill were collapsing with regularity in the country, putting the source of income of thousands of workers in jeopardy, but the government was dithering and delaying on one pretext or the other in releasing the much needed funds.
