'We mean Green' to encourage young chemical engineers

Specialty chemical company LANXESS India Private Limited sponsored Azeotropy'09, which was held from 7-8th March '09 at IIT Bombay, one of the country's most prestigious technology institutes.

At LANXESS, innovation also means environmental protection and sustainability. For LANXESS sponsoring Azeotrophy'09 – We mean Green was to encourage young chemical engineers to come up with the technologies to combat pollution in all its forms and ensure a greener and cleaner plant.

Azeotropy'09 is organized by IIT Bombay and the Chemical Engineering Association which is the biggest event of its kind in the country. Azeotropy is more than just a technology festival. It aims at emphasizing the spirit of engineering, experimenting with ideas, of committing mistakes, but more importantly, learning from them.

Azeotropy'09's tag line “We mean Green” is perfectly synonymous with LANXESS' core ideology of “Green Chemistry” as its focus on sustainability and innovation. Thus, LANXESS is proud to associate itself with this festival as IIT Bombay is widely recognized as a centre of academic excellence. At Azeotropy'09, students from all across India participate and only the best of the students are selected. The event brings out the best minds in the field, encouraging innovation and outstanding performance.

At the event, the Paper & Poster presentation competition that LANXESS India chose to sponsor focuses on students' creativity on the theme “Green Technology”. As LANXESS believes in valuing innovation and sustainability and this is the best opportunity for LANXESS to contribute to the field of chemistry.
