Big breakthrough in medical textiles by Shanghai Petrochemicals

Shanghai Petrochemical has recently launched a kind of ginkgo leaf polypropylene fibre, which has applications in medical field. It is learnt that it has properties and cure for a multitude of human diseases.
From amongst the many multi-functional capabilities it is supposed to possess are regulating blood circulation within arteries and capillaries, lowering blood viscosity, increasing blood flow, preventing cell damage caused by free radicals.
Others include inhibiting platelet aggregation and thrombus formation, improving brain metabolism, protecting the brain against hypoxic-injury and anti-aging, etc. If found commercially viable, it has the potential of a big breakthrough in field of textiles.
It has also been learnt that fibre has been invented by a team of international experts and specialists from various fields and Shanghai Petrochemicals is also looking forward to applying for an international patent for the same.
