A benzene manufacturing petrochemical plant, operated by Taiyo Oil and which has a capacity of 450,000 tons per year, located in Kikuma, Japan, is expected to have a maintenance turnaround in the near future.
According to industrial sources, a tentative maintenance shutdown has been planned in 2010, preferably in July or August and the said maintenance is expected to last two months. The company is not planning to go off-stream in the whole of 2009.
The source added by saying that, the benzene plant of Taiyo Oil is presently running at only 40-60 percent capacity due to a slowdown in demand from its downstream sectors in different markets across the globe.
