Kordsa Global has announced closing down of one of its units due to falling demand from the global markets. The production will stop at its nylon and polyester tyre cord facility in Izmit.
It is the world's largest supplier of nylon and polyester industrial yarn, fabrics and single-end-cord, serving primarily tyre markets. Kordsa's success story started with the tyre cord fabric plant investment in Izmit, Turkey in 1973.
In the past 35 years, the company has evolved into a global leader through strategic acquisitions and JV's and is a global leader with operations spread over five continents and a workforce of around 5,000 employees and 2007 sales of US $925 million.
