Slightly improved mill demand was reported compared with the week before. New contracts concerned no longer only short term covering purchases, but also covered delivery dates in the 4th quarter 2009.
The respective quantities however remained limited, reflecting the persisting uncertainty. There were still wider differences between the prices ideas of sellers and buyers. The cotton quotations in New York recovered by about 2 cents after swings to both sides compared with the week before.
In the Upland range conclusions of contracts were registered in Central Asian sorts for prompt, further in the 2nd quarter and in the 4th quarter 2009; Greek descriptions for prompt and for the 2nd quarter 2099, and West African types for dates in the 2nd and in the 4th quarter 2009.
In the LS/ELS range were traded: Egyptian GIZA 86 and 88, and Israel Pima for prompt.
