The district of Quela in Angola, was a rich cotton producing region till just a decades ago, but due ton reasons unknown, cotton production in the province came to a grinding halt. But now efforts to revive the glory of the white gold in the region have begun.
The farmers of Quela have once again expressed their wish to resume farming of cotton and have requested the provincial administration and different NGO's to assist them with funds and the technical know how to grow good quality cotton.
According to an administration official, cultivation of cotton crop was done in a big way in the colonial era, since Quela has a very fertile soil, conducive to the growth of the crop in the region and assured that the administration would extend all help.
