The Honolulu city mayor's office in collaboration with the Republic of Marshal Islands, is organizing a 'Made in the Marshall Islands' trade fair to promote the handicrafts sector of the region and help the artisans sustain their livelihood.
Handicrafts have a long tradition in Marshall Islands going back by centuries. They have woven intrinsic and colorful fabrics since decades. Marshall Island handicraft artists use the material that nature provided to craft beautiful gifts and decorations.
Marshallese handicrafts are very unique and considered to be the finest and most beautiful in the Pacific, and are produced by some of the finest weavers in the region. Handicrafts are an important part of the economy of the Marshall Islands.
This trade fair will also help the traditional craftsmen and retailers to set up a link with overseas buyers to help them sustain their livelihood for years to come.
