In the months of January and February 2009, main business income of China's major enterprises reached 6.06 trillion Yuan, a decline of 3.1 percent and achieved profits of 219.1 billion Yuan, a year-on-year reduction of 130.2 billion Yuan.
When compared with the same period of the previous year, main business income had grown by 27.4 percent and profits had risen by 16.5 percent.
Reduction in profits of light industry, textiles and building materials industry was relatively small. In the period under preview, light industry realized profits of 54.7 billion Yuan, down 4.2 percent, while it had risen by 36.1 percent in Jan-Feb 2008.
Profits from the textile industry grew to 12.4 billion Yuan, though down 9.5 percent. It had ascended by 14.2 percent in the same period of last year. On the other hand building materials industry reported a negative growth of only 0.5 percent in profits.
