Mitsubishi to turnaround Naphtha and PTA plants

The petrochemical major from Japan; Mitsubishi Chemical has planned major turnarounds at its naphtha cracker plant in Mizushima and plant No-1 and No-2 at Kashima in Japan and the Purified Terephthalic Acid (PTA) plant in Indonesia in the next few months.

Fibre2fashion spoke to a company official who confirmed the developments by saying that, “Maintenance shut downs have been planned at 450,000 tons per year Mizushima naphtha cracker for 7-8 weeks, 375,000 tons per year Kashima cracker No-1 for 6-7 weeks in the month of May and at the 476,000 tons per year Kashima cracker No-2 for 6-7 weeks in June”.

He also spoke about the maintenance shutdown at the 640,000 tons per annum PTA plant located in Merak, Indonesia and said, “Turnaround will commence at the plant from October 20 and will last for a month. The plant will restart operations on November 20 and currently, the plant is running at full operational rates”.
