Textiles in Trevira CS Bioactive satisfy in like manner the requirements in terms of preventative fire safety and enhanced hygiene. With this fibre the flame retardant property is supplemented by an added antimicrobial function, in that a silver-based agent is firmly embedded in the fibre polymer. The additive exercises a permanently antimicrobial effect and is not affected either by frequent washing or usage. In its action this effect emerges on the surface, without the agent migrating into the environment.

What advantages do textile air ducts offer over metal ducts?

• Even large amounts of air (in excess of 50,000 cubic metres per hour) are circulated and they are totally draught-free and uniformly distributed in work areas.
• Air speeds of less than 0.2 metres per second create a comfortable atmosphere for workpeople.
• Textile air ducts make it possible to work with substantially greater differences in temperature. In the same time they are • capable of transmitting considerably more cold or heat than conventional ventilation systems.
• Desired room temperatures are attained faster than with traditional systems: shorter running times of ventilators make for energy savings.
• Airtex Trevira CS Bioactive textile ductwork functions noiselessly and due to their sound-absorbent properties acts as a sound muffler in addition.
• Textile air ducts are easy to maintain, can be assembled and dismantled quickly and are machine-washable at 30°C.
• Due to their low weight and volume it is possible to cut transport and storage costs to a minimum.
• Colour and shape combinations enhance appearance.

Based in Kerken, Germany, Airtex GmbH has been working successfully in the refrigeration, air conditioning and comfort sectors since 1984. Among its main customers it now numbers large concerns from the international food industry, together with small and medium-sized companies. All Airtex materials are tested to DIN 24 185 and carry the TÜV seal of approval. (German Association for Technical Inspection).

In 1991 company head Hans de Zeeuw gained the innovation award of the International Techtextil Symposium for his groundbreaking work on air circulation, using technical textiles.

With the introduction of the Airtex System Bioactive in 2006 the company set a further milestone in HVAC products, underlining the importance of Trevira special fibres for modern technical textiles.
