Frank Hurd, chairman of the board for the Carpet America Recovery Effort (CARE) has announced that Georgina Sikorski has been named Executive Director of CARE, the industry-led effort to divert carpet from landfills.

"We are extremely fortunate to gain a person of Georgina's character, energy, and expertise. The issue of carpet recycling for our industry is one we are extremely proud of and one we continue to move forward on with the highest of priority. Georgina's contributions within the industry in the arena of sustainability and recycling are widely recognized, and her addition only furthers our efforts to tell this compelling story," said Mr. Hurd in announcing the hire.

Sikorski comes to CARE as a distinguished business-to-business marketing professional with over 25 years experience with DuPont Company, Ralston Purina Company, and most recently, INVISTA, a Koch Company. She specializes in developing strategic business solutions for a wide range of businesses and associations, especially in environmental and sustainable business practices. Most recently, she assisted the carpet industry in the development and marketing of NSF/ANSI 140-2007, the first ANSI approved Standard for environmentally preferable building materials.

“I feel very fortunate to become a part of this team. I will now be able have an impact on a national level and with the help of the CARE board, I am confident we are going to continue to make progress towards meeting all of our targeted goals. At the same time, we will continue to foster the emergence of this relatively new industry and the jobs and economic impact that goes along with it,'' Sikorski said.

Sikorski was previously the Marketing Director, and Commercial Brand and Marketing Communications Director, INVISTA, with responsibility for Antron carpet fiber, the most specified carpet fiber in the commercial interiors market. Georgina was a member of the USGBC Marketing Committee, LEED for Commercial Interiors Committee, and has served as member of CARE's board.

"CARE is a voluntary organization which stands on a solid foundation today because of the efforts of individuals like Georgina Sikorski who are involved with it. I am elated by the fact our organization will now fall under her leadership and direction. The fact Georgina will devote even more of her time to seeing that we continue to progress in our effort to meet our lofty goals is a winning solution for all involved," added Hurd.

Georgina has a MSIA (MBA), from Purdue University, Krannert School of Management and a MS, Biology, from St. Louis University.
