Soktas, which is one of the leading textile companies in Turkey, has set up a textile mill in Kolhapur, Maharashtra in India. The mill was inaugurated yesterday by the Turkish ambassador to India, Mr Levent Bilman.
Soktas, set up in 1971, is a world leader in manufacturing of yarn dyed shirting fabrics and employs around 1,200 workers at its facilities in Turkey. Soktas has the ISO 9001, ISO 14000 environmental license, Okeo-Tex 100 certificate and even the fair trade license.
Set up on a 100,000 sq metres of land with 40,000 sq metres of covered area, Soktas India shall produce 12 million meters of yarn-dyed and 2 million meters of piece-dyed shirting fabric and full capacity utilization will be achieved in 5 years and over 5 stages.
Soktas India's aim is to reach markets in China and India, where luxury consumption is growing, as well as cater to well-known international brands operating in the region and will constitute a very significant step in its vision of becoming the worldwide leader.
