Minister of Trade and Industry Rob Davies and Minister of Economic Development, Ebrahim Patel earlier convened a meeting attended by the leadership of the South African Clothing and Textile Workers Union (Sactwu), the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Seardel and the Industrial Development Corporation (IDC), with a view to working towards a solution which all the stakeholders would contribute to and, which would avoid the closing of the Frame Vertical Pipeline Strategic Textile Facility.

After constructive discussions, it was agreed that a task team be established to further clarify the options which have been identified and that the team reports back to a Ministerial level meeting to be held on Monday 25 May 2009.

The Frame Group is one of the largest textile and textile related product manufacturers in Southern Africa, with plants situated in Kwa Zulu Natal and the Western Cape of South Africa. We are a world class producer of yarn, woven, non woven, and knitted fabric, made up home textiles and industry related chemicals. The group has an annual turnover in excess of US$ 200 million and total assets of US$ 250 million. Specialized business units supply a diverse customer base in Southern Africa and around the world. The group is geared to operate in a global environment.
