Group of Ministers in bid to avoid closure of Frame Textile facility

Minister of Trade and Industry Rob Davies and Minister of Economic Development, Ebrahim Patel earlier convened a meeting attended by the leadership of the South African Clothing and Textile Workers Union (Sactwu), the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Seardel and the Industrial Development Corporation (IDC), with a view to working towards a solution which all the stakeholders would contribute to and, which would avoid the closing of the Frame Vertical Pipeline Strategic Textile Facility.

After constructive discussions, it was agreed that a task team be established to further clarify the options which have been identified and that the team reports back to a Ministerial level meeting to be held on Monday 25 May 2009.
