Bangalore, which stands amongst the top three textile and garment centre's in the country does not have a well established spinning sector, alleged Mr V. Thiagaraj, Director of Sona Valliappa Textiles at a press conference.
He said, the textile industry in Karnataka lacks in backward integration due to which it has to source raw material requirements from other centres. Giving an example he said, yarn and fabric is sourced from Tamil Nadu and processing of fabric is done in Ahmedabad.
After which the ready made garment is manufactured in Bangalore entailing a huge waste of time and money. He said the need of the hour is to set up integrated textile parks in Karnataka to save resources and lead times
