Big changes and program improvements are in store for attendees at the nonwovens industry's most important technical gathering of the year, the 2009 International Nonwovens Technical Conference (INTC), set for September 21-24, 2009 at the Grand Hyatt Denver Downtown, Denver, Colorado.

Sponsored by INDA, and organized in partnership with TAPPI, the Technical Association of the Pulp, Paper, Packaging and Converting Industries, the “new and improved” INTC 2009 will be highlighted by sessions containing input from industries outside of traditional nonwovens, paper and engineered fabrics as a means to stimulate discussion and to introduce new technology into nonwovens.

The new “Innovations and Applications” track, featuring presentations from government, academia and industry professionals, is in addition to the general technical program focusing on the technical aspects of the development and production of nonwoven fabrics.

“Our attendees spoke and we listened and INTC 2009 will include applicable and timely presentations from engineering and technology universities, new commercial products from leading end-use product manufacturers and innovations from chemical, biological and mechanical research and development centers,” says Rory Holmes, President of INDA.

“These additional sessions, coupled with our traditional state-of-the-art technical presentations, allows INTC to retain its status as one of the elite technical conferences in America and a must-attend event in 2009 for the global nonwovens technical community,” Holmes adds.

As an example of the concerted effort to explore the research and development synergies possible in nonwovens and related but separate technologies, INTC will feature a unique daylong session that will combine research with the new business opportunities these technologies offer.

Among the topics to be a part of the session:
• Technology Innovations
• Smart Textiles
• Closed-Mold Technology
• Nanocoatings and Composite Nanofibers
• Cool Sensors for Nonwovens
• Transdermal Medical Delivery
• PLA and Thermal Bonding
• Radiation Blocking Technology
• New Personal Care Products
• Flame Resistant Composites
• Antimicrobials: Coatings and Nanoparticles
• Government R&D Programs: Where Will the Money Go?

Among other highlights of the two-and-a-half day Conference:
• A Table-top Event & Reception will allow attendees to network with more than 30 corporate and university representatives.
• An Industry Showcase moderated by Bob Averell, of INVISTA, will feature 15 companies introducing their new products, services and technologies to the nonwovens industry.
• A Graduate Research Competition will feature up-and-coming professionals presenting papers detailing their research in nonwoven technology. The winner of the Graduate Research Award will be announced at the Technical Achievement Awards & Networking Luncheon.
