FIEO participates at India Sourcing Fair - Home Products

A delegation of 25 companies under the aegis of Federation of Indian Export Organisations (FIEO) has left to Dubai for participation in India Sourcing Fair – Home Products during June 14-16, 2009.
The fair will be co-located with China Sourcing Fair which has become a must attend event of its industry in Dubai. Some of the regular buyers at the fair are Carrefour; Kingfisher; Tesco; Three Sixty Sourcing; Auchan; Coles Myer; Li & Fung etc.
The India specific fair is being organised to give the exclusive look to Indian companies. The Indian participation includes companies dealing in Stainless Steel Cutlery; Handicrafts of Aluminium & Brass; Handloom Products; Kitchenware, Table Accessories, Jute Products, Hand made Paper Products; leather gift items etc.
Commerce Secretary, Mr G. K. Pillai has praised FIEO's initiative of participating in Dubai which is India's second biggest export destination after USA. Dubai is world's third largest re-export center and gateway to the Middle East. Indian products are well accepted and there is a greater scope of increasing India's share in UAE import, he said. Mr Pillai further said that such participation will also help in strengthening ties with GCC countries paving way for greater cooperation in trade and investment.
Mr Venu Rajamony, Consul General of India in Dubai said that there is immense potential for augmenting trade between India and UAE in general and Dubai in particular. Dubai, because of its unique location and infrastructure, can be used as the base for furthering business in the GULF including MENA region.
FIEO President Mr A Sakthivel said that FIEO has committed itself for the cause of trade promotion and exploring various markets for augmenting Indian exports. India UAE trade touched USD 29 billion in 2007-08, a 41% increase over the previous year trade of USD 20.6 billion. The major export products to UAE are precious and semiprecious stones, metals, apparels, cereals, articles of iron & steel etc.
