A meeting was recently organised by the Bangladesh Jute Association (BJA) at its office which was also attended by the Textile and Jute Minister, Mr Abdul Siddiqui and office bearers of other jute associations like BJMC, BJMA, etc.
Speakers at the meeting spoke about the ills affecting the jute sector in Bangladesh since the last two decades and demanded exemption of bank interest for the credit facilities availed from the banks in the last few years.
They also demanded preservation of indigenous high-breed jute seed to ensure higher yields, providing training to jute farmers and inclusion of BJA in the National Committee on Export headed by the Prime Minister.
