According to data from the National Bureau of Statistics, in the period January to May of 2009, spinning yarn output of big and major enterprises totaled to 8.82 million tons, an increase of 6.6 percent year-on-year.
Influenced by price rise in cotton, polyester staple fiber, viscose staple fiber and other raw materials, yarn sales were sluggish, profit margins of textile enterprises generally narrowed.
In January to June, domestic price of cotton grade 328 increased by as much as 15.4 percent, while cotton yarn price advanced only 7.8 percent, polyester staple fiber price rose by 14.4 percent and viscose staple fiber price increased 41.6 percent.
