Marine Fabricators Association announces keynote speaker

The Marine Fabricators Association (MFA) is pleased to announce that the 2010 MFA National Convention will be held at the Rosen Plaza Hotel in Orlando, FL, January 10-12, 2010. Custom marine fabricators and suppliers to the industry don't want to miss this annual event. The convention is the premiere event promoting the marine fabrication industry and is packed full of both educational and networking opportunities.
MFA announces that Mr. Harris Rosen, President and COO of Rosen Hotels & Resorts, will be the keynote speaker. Rosen will share the story of his journey from a child raised in New York's lower eastside to becoming Florida's largest independent hotelier, with seven Orlando hotels totaling close to 6,300 rooms.
Rosen's career spanned graduation from Cornell University to a three-year stint as an Army officer to management and sales positions with the Waldorf Astoria, Hilton, the Post Company and Disney. Upon leaving Disney, Rosen purchased his first hotel in 1974, the Quality Inn International. His famous "napkin story," where Rosen allowed tour operators to name rates on cocktail napkins and use these as contracts, launched this first hotel on the road to profitability and is just one example of the creativity that he has implemented over the past 35 years to lead his company to success.
A self-made man who was the first in his immigrant family to graduate high school, as well as college, Rosen's success has allowed him to be a generous philanthropist to numerous charities especially those supporting education. One of his most cherished endeavors is a program he created and funds called the Tangelo Park Program, to benefit an underprivileged community near his hotels.
This program provides a free college or vocational education to any child living in Tangelo Park that graduates high school. To date, the 16-year-old program has sent approximately 350 students to college and increased the high school graduation rate from approx. six percent 16 years ago to about 94 percent today.
