'We are optimistic about future' – Pagmat Inc

Established in 1979, Pagmat Inc., a Turkey based company, is a closely held Corporation dealing in cotton, yarn and food products. With production facilities in the hearth of main cotton growing areas of Western Aegean region, Pagmat is an export oriented company with customers who are particular about product quality and well organized production systems.

Pagmat employs 570 people and has an asset size of US $45 million and annual revenues of $40 million, of which more than three- quarters of its sales are realized from export markets. Pagmat is the flagship company of the Group, which consists of five companies operating in the textile sector.

Fibre2fashion spoke exclusively to Mr Sedat Almis, Trade Manager at Pagmat to know about the current situation of the textile sector in Turkey and measures taken by them to reduce the impact.

Mr Almis said that the situation is not so good, as there is still excess capacity within the sector and it is diffcult to foresee future trends due to economic crisis and due to weak demand we have also reduced production as done by many others”.

He added by saying that despite the fact that they manufacture fine count yarn, they also have been impacted by the recessionery trends, but are optimistic that things will improve in the near future.
