According to statistical data released by the Ministry of Economy, Industry and Trade, production of ethylene in Japan, grew year-on-year in the month of August.
Ethylene output stood at 628,200 tons in August, to grow by 3.6 percent when compared with production in the same month of the previous year.
This development has enabled the naphtha crackers to run at high operational rates. Production in July 2009 stood at 553,800 tons.
The Ministry had recently released a report suggesting that there will be a global excess supply of 9.6 million tons of ethylene derivatives by 2013.
