A Chinese research institute and a textile company have jointly collaborated to develop a first of its kind fine count of hemp yarn, by refining the hemp fibre.
Wuxi East China Research Institute of Innovative Materials and Yinkou Xinyi Textile Co. Ltd. have developed a technology to refine hemp fiber, which match up to properties of the cotton fibre.
They have been able to produce yarn counts of up to 60nm and apart from that the fine hemp fibre can also be blended with cotton, wool, silk, cashmere and chemical fiber, etc.
The fabric manufactured from this fine fibre is also considered to have excellent dyeing properties and this development will greatly widen application of hemp fiber.
