Buyers for China were dominant, followed by buyers for India and a limited presence by buyers for Europe.
Sales will be held in Sydney, Melbourne and Fremantle next week, when 49,722 bales are currently rostered for sale. Present estimates for the following two sales (Weeks 22 and 23) are 49,320 and 47,450 bales, respectively; an increase of 14.4% over the three sale period when compared with last year.
The New Zealand Merino Company is rostered to offer 2,850 bales in Melbourne next week.
In South African sales, where 8,601 bales were on offer, the Cape Wools Indicator was down by 5.1% since last week against a 5.1% appreciation of the Rand against the US Dollar and a 3.4% appreciation against the Euro.
