Wool production forecasts have not been revised downwards for the first time in nearly two years. According to the Australian Wool Production Forecasting Committee, the decline in wool production is steadying.
It says that the sheep numbers in many states have also started to stabilise in recent years and has reconfirmed its expectations for 2009-10. Australian shorn wool production is expected to touch 330 million kilograms greasy.
These production figures are however less than the figures projected last year of 362 million kilograms greasy.
