Results of a twinning program in the handicrafts sector between Tunisia, France and Spain were revealed during a seminar held in Tunis. This program is a part of cooperation with European Union (EU) aimed at modernizing Tunisia's handicrafts sector.
Four framework agreements were also signed respectively between Tunisia, France and Spain during the event. These agreements will prove to be helpful to reinforce the cooperation between investment and marketing sectors. During the event, Mr. Ridha Ben Mosbah, Minister of Trade and Handicrafts underlined the significant role of handicraft sector in enhancing exchanges and strengthening cooperation.
Tunisia is the foremost country to avail benefit from a twinning agreement with European funding in the handicrafts sector. The program, which is a part of the National Handicrafts Board (ONA) strategy to boost the handicrafts sector, will offer wide prospects to enhance quality and marketing efforts in domestic and foreign markets, at an estimated cost of € one million.
The twinning program fulfills national orientations meant to step up economic, technical and cultural exchange with European countries, to promote and to improve the quality of local handicraft products, in compliance with international standards in force, said an expert.
