HP launches handicraft e-commerce website

With a view to promote traditional handicrafts and designs and e-selling of its products, a website www.himcrafts.com, has been launched by the State Handicrafts and Handloom Corporation.
State Industries Minister of Himachal Pradesh, Kishan Kapoor inaugurated the website. The web portal showcases over 100 ethnic products including the globally renowned Kullu and Kinnauri Shawls.
At the inaugural function, Mr. Kapoor informed the media that the corporation aims at revitalizing state's extinct crafts and design. Further he added that the move will help the buyers to shop online and orders so placed, will be dispatched within a period of three weeks.
He also informed that efforts have been initiated to get products like Chamba Chappal registered under the Geographical Indications Act in line with Kullu Shawl and Chama rumal (handkerchief) which are already listed under the Act.
