The freezing European winter has helped bring back life in to the wool sector, which was one of the worst hit segments from amongst the textile industry in 2009, as European customers reaffirm their faith in the natural fibre to beat the biting cold.
By the end of 2009, there were signs of growing demand for woolen suits and coats, the demand for which had been hit the hardest, after the unveiling of the economic crisis which led to a reduction in consumer spending.
The United Kingdom followed by Japan, Italy, South Korea and Germany had the highest per capita consumption of Australian wool apparel products last year, although, most of the wool products were manufactured in China which is the biggest importer of Australian wool.
