The Handicraft and Wood Industry Association of HCM City will lend a hand to its members to exploit post-crisis opportunities in a bid to improve exports and enlarge their domestic market, said Mr. Nguyen Chien Thang, Chairman of the association in a meeting to review association's last year performance.

In past several years, the association had performed as a bridge between the Government and businesses by conveying Government's policies to enterprises and entrepreneurs' demands to the government. Its website has become an important source of information for businesses.

In order to give a boost to its members, it would hold a number of seminars, fairs, training courses and trade promotion programs, this year, and also will pick up opinions to offer inputs to the government to create effective policy. The association has 325 members.

It will collaborate with allied agencies for organizing trade promotions and foreign market-research trips.

Mr. Nguyen Quoc Khanh one of the Deputy Chairmen of the association, advised the companies looking to expand domestic sales to invest more to develop qualified design staff and undertake research with regards to demands and tastes of the consumers.
