A wool insulation manufacturer said that the government missed a very good opportunity to support the domestic wool sector.
He was referring to the lopsided home insulation program initiated by the Environmental Ministry which came under severe criticism due to house fires.
“Though wool insulation batt may be more expensive they are better for the environment”, said Mr Geoff Aldridge, from Higgins Insulation.
In support of using wool as an insulator he said, "At the end of the lifecycle and lifetime of wool, it can be used as a fertilizer as it is actually biodegradable”.
This country has a very big wool sector which needs support and using wool batt could prove to be a perfect opportunity to lend support”, he added by saying.
