The Commerce Minister, Mr Anand Sharma along with the Commerce Secretary, Mr Rahul Khullar is visiting the United States to secure and facilitate more access for leather goods and handicrafts, produced and exported from India.
The US which is India's third largest trading partner has a major export share amongst all countries for products like leathers and handicrafts, the exports of which stood at US $3.59 billion and $1.7 billion, respectively in fiscal 2008-09.
During their visit, they are also expected to sign a framework for cooperation in trade and investment. The US was the epicenter of the economic crisis but has managed to record positive growth in the last three months.
