Mill demand for cotton for near shipping- / delivery dates indicated the still existing need for covering in the first half year 2010. At the beginning of the reporting week the ICE quotations for the front trading months tended significantly weaker and intensified the local demand.
Towards the weekend the quotations raised again. It remained difficult for buyers and sellers to bring their different price ideas in line with each other. The availability of cotton remained limited, partly because of lacking availability from the origins and partly for quality reasons.
In the Upland range contracts were concluded in Central Asian sorts and in Greek descriptions for prompt and until the end of the 2nd quarter 2010.
In the fine- / extra fine range turnovers were registered in Egyptian GIZA 86 and GIZA 88 for prompt, Israel Pima and ACALPI for the 3rd quarter 2010, and USA Pima for the 2nd and for the 3rd quarter 2010.
