The Uttar Poorva Khadi Gramodyog Mela(29th March To 12th April) organized by the North East Zone of KVIC was inaugurated by Sushri Kumud Joshi, Chairperson, Khadi Village Industries Commission(KVIC).

Speaking on the occasion the Chairperson complimented the organizers for organizing such a good Mela and said that the Special Exhibition would enable the participants to find new marketing avenues by not only effecting a sizeable retail sale but also booking bulk orders from wholesalers and sourcing agencies in order to make it a grand success.

Ms. Joshi further added that the development of Khadi and Village Industries in the North East Region is a priority area under the KVI sector.

Every year Exhibitions of different levels are being organized in order to promote and open better market avenues for the KVI products in the North East Zone. For 2009-10 KVIC has sanctioned two 'Uttarpurva Khadi Gramodyog Mela' to be organized outside the Zone, out of which one was inaugurated at Dilli Haat, New Delhi and the other one will be organized during 2010-11 at Kolkata.

Khadi & Village Industries products have great demand on account of their eco-friendly character and natural base. The Mela offers a wide range of products including exquisite bamboo and cane crafts, furniture, exclusive muga, endi silk sarees, dress materials, Naga shawls and variety of handicraft items from KVI Sector.
