1 min read

The Central Government is considering launching a special project, in a bid to provide technical and marketing support to craftsmen and artisans from rural areas by mobilizing them into self-help groups (SHGs).

Towards meeting this objective, the government will also initiate a pilot programme shortly and will also try to converge the schemes of the Rural Development and Textiles Ministry.

The other main objective of the government is to make these rural artisans self-sustainable, for which it will provide necessary inputs like design, training and raw materials.
